JULIA VERICELLA
After many years of presenting her lived experience in several autobiographical photography series of self-portraits, Julia Vericella (b. 1991) is returning to oil painting and charcoal drawings. Her work explores the shadow side of private life, family dynamics, and the terrain of mental health. Vericella’s utilization of dream-like surrealism begs a dissection of the many systems and stigmas which orchestrate modern life.
Vericella was raised in Los Angeles and now lives and works in Augusta, GA and travels frequently to Los Angeles and Savannah. Vericella received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2013.
