After many years of presenting her lived experience through autobiographical photography and self-portraiture, Julia Vericella (b. 1991) is returning to oil painting and drawing in charcoal, graphite, and pen and ink. Drawing inspiration from Southern American architecture and flora, Vericella’s work considers the beauty, strangeness, and quiet complexities of everyday life. Blending close observation with dream-like surrealism, she creates intimate images shaped by memory, place, family, and the imagination.

Vericella was raised in Los Angeles and now lives and works in Augusta, GA and travels frequently to Los Angeles and Savannah. Vericella received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2013.
